    Comment Text:

I am concerned about the rule making that has been proposed at the CFTC with regard to some of Kalshi’s specific prediction event contract markets. As an agricultural economist specializing in food security and rural development, I understand the interconnected challenges of climate change, agricultural policies, and global food supply chains.
Kalshi's proposed election contracts could provide valuable insights into legislative changes, trade policies, and weather patterns that affect agricultural production and food prices.
These contracts would enable farmers, policymakers, and food security advocates to anticipate market trends, mitigate risks, and promote sustainable agriculture practices.
The CFTC's decision to restrict these markets overlooks their potential to support agricultural resilience and food system sustainability. Stakeholders in agriculture and food policy could utilize these contracts to strengthen food security initiatives, promote rural development, and ensure equitable access to nutritious food. This would contribute to building resilient agricultural systems that can withstand climate variability and meet global food demands sustainably.
