Dear CFTC: As a high school civics teacher, I stress to my students the importance of understanding and participating in our democracy. Kalshi’s election contracts could serve as an invaluable educational tool, providing real-time insights into political trends and the impact of elections on the economy. This proposal by the CFTC to ban such contracts undermines educational opportunities and stifles critical thinking about political risk and market dynamics. We need more data and transparency, not less. The CFTC's move feels like a step back for both education and market freedom and I am concerned that the proposal is a political one rather than one backed in data, facts, and markets.
