I think it's ridiculous that you would consider shutting down these political futures markets. We need more of these type of binary markets where investors are making bets against other investors. We've legalized sports gambling in this country and these markets are an issue for you? I work in the investment industry and I see the way that market centers and market makers take advantage of retail investors at any opportunity. Yes these democratic, transparent markets that are advantageous to retails investors may not be permitted? One of the beautiful things about PredcitIt is that the number of contracts is limited and that keeps out institutional investors who would manipulate these contracts.
As well, I see the markets are providing valuable insight into what may actually happen in elections. We cannot trust polls anymore and seeing what people are betting on with their own money gives us all another data point where we can try to glean insight into what may happen in a given race.
I ask that you not shut down PredictIt. Don't cave to the big market makers and institutional investors.
