    NO TO ELECTION GAMBLING!

As a 72 year old woman who has been a voter since the age of 21 (when that was the legal age to vote), I am writing to express my DEEP concerns over the idea of ANYONE gambling on our elections. Talk about a way to GREATLY EXPAND disinformation and the influence of big money in our politics and democracy!

This is why the CFTC must reject this ridiculous idea:

Allowing this proposal will undermine the integrity of our elections and our democracy.
Allowing betting on election outcomes will create strong financial incentives for special interests to manipulate and interfere in our elections.
Allowing this proposal will reduce voter confidence, and lead to a perception that election outcomes are not solely determined by voters’ choices, but also by those who bet on election results.
Allowing this proposal puts personal gain ahead of the public interest.
Allowing this proposal undermines the principle of one person, one vote – the bedrock of our democracy

ELECTIONS ARE NOT A JOKE OR A GAME! There are plenty of other gambling opportunities for those who are so eager to throw away their money. Allowing gambling on elections would be analogous to allowing people to bet on the lives of people who are ill - JUST SICK!

    Thank you.
