Prediction markets have the potential to make human thought more systematic, much like the scientific method. I think they could deliver the massive benefits to society that the scientific method did when it was adopted. In other words, prediction markets vs no prediction markets is similar to the scientific method vs pre-scientific method attempts to study the natural world.
