I strongly urge you NOT to allow betting on election results. Since the election of 2020 there is much mistrust in this country over the integrity of elections, even though no major problems were discovered in the last election. So we need to be building confidence in the election system - for bets to be placed on the results of the elections would undermine confidence, and further breed mistrust.
Allowing betting on the outcomes of elections is likely to encourage interference, abuse of officials and various forms of misconduct to maximize winnings. I am also concerned about the heightened sense of tribalism in this country and fear that betting on elections would feed this tribalism. Please do not allow betting on elections. This is a very bad idea.
