    Comment Text:

I am writing as a physician and public health advocate who strongly supports full protection for freedom of democratic elections. It is crucial to understand that allowing this proposal will undermine the integrity of our elections and our democracy. I strongly urge you to please not approve this proposal.
I am very concerned because any situation that permits betting on election outcomes will create strong financial incentives for special interests to manipulate and interfere in our elections.
I am making you aware that permitting this proposal of election gambling will reduce voter confidence, and lead to a perception that election outcomes are not solely determined by voters’ choices, but also by those who bet on election results.
Any federal approval of this proposal puts personal gain ahead of the public interest of Americans.
At this time, I thank you for your consideration of my letter and my request. It is very important for the Community Futures Trade Commission to remember that if our federal government sanctions this proposal, any approval of this proposal undermines the principle of one person, one vote, which has always been the bedrock of our democracy. Please do not allow this proposal to be approved.

    Sincerely,
    Jean Marie Naples, MD-Ph.D.
