Allowing gambling on elections is almost beyond description dangerous to freedom and democracy. Elections are not games to be bet on.
There is a tendency in this country to think of elections as horse races; that is certainly the way the media covers them these days, largely to provoke the insane level of money spent on political advertising. Allowing gambling on election outcomes will further reduce the respect that voters have for the election process now: participation in elections in this country is shamefully low as it is. Never mind the wide open door that gambling will provide for election interference.
Other countries may regard votes as commodities to be gambled on. May this country not be one of those.
