    Comment Text:

I am appalled that there is any consideration given to what amounts to gambling on our elections. Our democracy has already seen many attempts to thwart its sacrosanct procedures and guardrails. Gambling on election results is truly the last thing we need right now. Money already has an outsized influence in our democracy! This proposal is not in the public interest in any way and only serves to cheapen our politics.

    • Allowing this proposal will undermine the integrity of our elections and our democracy. We have already seen how introducing money into our political equation muddies, cheapens and pollutes our politics.

    • Allowing betting on election outcomes will create strong financial incentives for special interests to manipulate and interfere in our elections.

    • Allowing this proposal will reduce voter confidence, and lead to a perception that election outcomes are not solely determined by voters’ choices, but also by those who bet on election results.

    • Allowing this proposal puts personal gain ahead of the public interest.

    • Allowing this proposal undermines the principle of one person, one vote – the bedrock of our democracy.
