I am writing to request that you reject the proposal to allow betting on election results. I worked for 30 years as a public school teacher, and I care about the future. I want my students and their children to experience the benefits of living in a country with a democratic form of government, not just on paper but in actuality. If people could bet on election results, it would invite corruption into the electoral process, since some individuals would have personal financial incentives to influence the election results. It would also de-value the importance of voting, since it would make elections seem more like sporting events. Thank you for considering public input on this issue.
