To Whom It May Concern:
I am a retired educator who is steadfast in my belief in democracy and abhor any and all actions that may undermine our system of government. It is with this concern that I am writing to urge this commission to halt any and all attempts to allow betting on elections.
Betting on elections, I think, allows members of society to think that voting is a trivial matter, like playing the lottery; voting is not a trivial matter and betting on elections should not be allowed.
I also fear that voting on elections opens yet another door for monied interests and persons to gain financially which further undermines the integrity and sanctity of elections.
I thank you in advance for considering my opinions and thoughts on this democratic bedrock fundamental.
