NO to gambling on elections held in the United States !!!

With the current public discord surrounding our national elections, this is a SUPREMELY BAD IDEA----what with many groups alleging that the last election was "stolen," and with huge majorities on both sides unable to converse together, let alone arrive at a reasonable compromise, the funding of elections is at stake, as is the integrity of our system.

I strongly encourage voting members to REJECT this proposal----if you want to consider a measure to IMPROVE the cesspool that currently surrounds this issue, go back to an old idea---

MOVE TO LEGISLATE THAT ALL ELECTIONS BE PUBLICLY FUNDED, with reasonable limits on spending put in place, at the same time.

This would move all candidates to a more fertile, balanced playing field---and would get Dark Money out of politics.

But gambling on outcomes is most hazardous----unless the individuals and groups behind this proposal are aiming for destruction of our democracy, preferring autocratic rule by one strongman.

This portends a mass exodus from US to countries who can actually debate worthy proposals, hear all relevant opinions, and arrive at an agreed-upon consensus.

When I was a kid, we used to be able to do this----read your history books about the relationship between Tip O'Neill of Massachusetts and Ronald Reagan.

    Thank you.
