Gambling on elections is a terrible idea.
Allowing betting on election outcomes will create strong financial incentives for special interests to manipulate and interfere in our elections.
It will lead to a perception that election outcomes are not solely determined by voters’ choices, but by those who bet on election results.
It puts personal gain ahead of the public interest and undermines the principle of one person, one vote – the bedrock of our democracy.
What's more, it's totally unnecessary, adding nothing productive to society. This is greed pushing aside common sense.
Not everything in society has to be a profit center. Particularly elections.
