Allowing gambling in our elections is an execrable idea. Our elections are not a sport, they are the sacred core of our democratic tradition. The influence of money corrupts. Greed corrupts. We have already seen this in many areas of our society, not the least in the corruption of many of our lawmakers who are beholden to big corporate donors and billionaires.
Gambling on the outcome of our elections opens the door for even more corruption of our political process by big money interests. It should never be allowed.
