The idea that we are actually considering allowing betting on the outcomes of our elections is frightening and unimaginable. This would allow nothing to gain and everything to lose. Corporate money going into candidates election coffers as it is right now appears anti democratic as big money can often sway voters allowing corporations to get what they want and leaving us citizens wondering why government is not working in our interest, which is what a democracy should be, “by the people and for the people.” Adding to this allowing corporations, millionaires and others to gamble on the outcome of elections just weakens the process of “free” elections even more. Gambling always favors the house, so the winner of the election will be beholding to those who wanted him/her to win. The money from gambling I suspect would go to the general fund, but the winner would push to provide monetary support for those who wanted him/her to win again bypassing what “we the people” want and need, like elected officials who recognize compromise and not demonize the other side.

Please do not degrade our democracy even more than it is and do not allow people and corporations to gamble on the outcome of our elections.
