Free and fair elections are a most important component of a democracy. Therefore, it is very important to make sure our elections are not influenced through unfair election financing, voting laws that allow any category of eligible donors from casting their vote, or any other aspect of our election system which distracts people from this serious process of elections, or allows individuals or groups to profit from elections.
Allowing this proposal will undermine the integrity of our elections and our democracy.
Allowing betting on election outcomes will create strong financial incentives for special interest to manipulate and interfere in our elections.
Allowing this proposal will reduce voter confidence, and lead to a erception that election outcomes are not solely determined by voters' choices, but also by those who bet on election results.
Allowing this proposal puts personal gain ahead of the public interest.
Allowing this proposal undermines the principle of one person, one vote - the bedrock of our democracy.
I hope our opinion on this matter will prevail to preserve our fair election processes.
