I thought I had no illusions left about my country, but I forgot that the forces of crass greed and cheap celebrity would come up with yet one more despicable plot: election gambling. I am 94. I was a patriot, a well-educated, lawabiding, contributive citizen. I was able to work (and pay taxes) until I was 84. I am warehoused now in a pathetic old folks home that treats us like dim-witted children. My heart is nearly broken by the daily news, the continuous sword-rattling, and now this cheap trick. Putting an emphatiac stop to this one feels like a last-ditch effort to restore some dignity and trust toor nation..
