    Comment Text:

    Dear CFTC,

The proposal to allow election outcome gambling clearly goes against the public interest and the CFTC must reject it.

This proposal for election outcome gambling has the potential for the following disastrous impacts that will damage our electoral process and undermine our democracy:

-Allowing this proposal will undermine the integrity of our elections and our democracy.
-Allowing betting on election outcomes will create strong financial incentives for special interests to manipulate and interfere in our elections.
-Allowing this proposal will reduce voter confidence, and lead to a perception that election outcomes are not solely determined by voters’ choices, but also by those who bet on election results.
-Allowing this proposal puts personal gain ahead of the public interest.
-Allowing this proposal undermines the principle of one person, one vote – the bedrock of our democracy.

This proposal has NO merits other than to provide some individuals with increased wealth at the expense of the integrity and security of our nation. This proposal, and any other similar proposals, should be considered an attack on our democracy and legislation should be passed ASAP to make them permanently illegal.

    Respectfully,
