Why would we allow betting on elections when going so would:
- create strong financial incentives for special interests to manipulate and interfere in our elections.
- put personal gain ahead of the public interest.
- reduce voter confidence, and lead to a perception that election outcomes are a game and not solely determined by voters’ choices, but also by those who bet on election results.
- undermine the integrity of our elections and our democracy.
- risk undermining the principle of one person, one vote – the bedrock of our democracy.
Please vote not to allow betting on election outcomes. Our democracy is on the line; this is no game.
