I am a retail user of the Kalshi platform and believe approving election event based futures will not only open up investment opportunities for retail investors, but help facilitate a vibrant predictive market that can serve as a check on misinformation during election cycles.
I know that academic research, including Iowa's long-run predictive markets system for research purposes, has been demonstrated to show the power of the herd's capabilities to accurately assess and predict election outcomes. I think the data the election event based futures will be able to provide during the campaign cycle will be a useful and democratically enhancing additional data point to traditional polling.
