Betting on elections is a terrible idea. There are those who will seek to assure their winnings by taking illegal actions so that they will win their bet. This kind of activity has occurred in every other gambling venue. Our elections are already vulnerable to disinformation and interference from abroad; we should not be introducing another potential problem. Our democracy depends on citizens taking our elections seriously and carefully considering the candidates and issues. Allowing bets on the outcome of elections cheapens the process and invites cheating. We need to do everything possible to keep our voting a solemn activity. Betting on elections threatens our democratic process. Do not allow wagering on our elections.!
