The rapid proliferation of artificial intelligence has raised concerns about the potential consequences of allowing betting on elections. This practice could lead to the misuse of AI to create false or deceptive content aimed at swaying public opinion and maximizing profits. Therefore, I strongly urge your agency to reject the current proposal, which seeks to permit a private company to accept bets on election outcomes.

Furthermore, our election officials are already facing unprecedented challenges, and they are not adequately prepared to deal with the additional repercussions that election betting could bring. Allowing such betting would only exacerbate the spread of conspiracy theories, misinformation, and harassment directed at these officials.

Introducing betting on elections fundamentally contradicts the principles that underpin a well-functioning democracy. It promotes a harmful "team spectator sport" mentality, where individuals prioritize their preferred side's victory at any cost, rather than engaging in informed discussions about policies and working together for the greater good of the community.

It's important to recognize that there is already a significant lack of confidence in the integrity of American elections. By sanctioning bets on election results, the trust in the democratic process could be further eroded, creating a hazardous environment for election officials and undermining the very essence of democracy itself.

In light of these concerns, I earnestly implore you to reject the proposal and take a decisive stand in support of a robust and healthy democracy. Thank you for your unwavering attention to this critical matter.
