I urge you to deny the proposal your agency is currently considering that would allow a private company to accept bets on the outcomes of elections. I am appalled that the government is even considering this. It is yet another blow to the integrity of our democracy.
Elections should be the bedrock of our democracy, not a spectator sport. Confidence in our elections is already an issue. Allowing people to bet on elections would further undermine public confidence.
Allowing betting on elections would lead to more conspiracy theories, lies, and harassment directed at election officials. I am concerned that this will discourage citizens to become election officials.
Please reject the proposal to allow betting on election results and take a stand in favor of a healthy democracy. Thank you for your time.
