This is absolutely insane. It would greatly contribute to the continued deterioration of our tenuously held democracy by encouraging and rewarding intervention in the political process for monetary gain. Our democracy needs to be strengthened, not weakened by exacerbating the already strong tendency to treat political contests as if they were dog races.
