Accredited investor status is discriminatory and should be repealed. I have been an accredited investor for most of my adult life. I have invested in dozens of private equity startups. Due to several circumstances, I no longer fit the definition of an accredited investor. My knowledge level and decades of experience in the markets hasn't changed. There needs to be another method for certifying individuals for investing in private equity, derivatives, etc. I find it hypocritical that my government is trying to 'protect me' from these things yet will allow me to blow all my money gambling at a casino. That is completely backward! Stop trying to protect me, verify my knowledge level and then get out of my way.
