I believe transparency in markets is of the utmost importance and even as it is today, leaves something to be desired. I understand the seemingly laborious nature of manual reporting, given the technology available today, however as an analyst I believe having a person responsible for reporting creates greater accountability for the reporting, less opportunity for an error to persist for months without being found, and adds another layer of protection with another set of eyes on the reports each month. The more obscure markets such as swaps and derivatives need to have as much information as possible available to the public as well as regulatory bodies, especially given the current climate of the markets.
