CO2 is necessary plant food and has caused the greening of the earth by 33% according to a NASA international study. Worldwide crop harvests and yields have increased over the last 50 years. Because of the proven enhanced plant growth caused by additional CO2.
The greater real and present danger are climate policies of forcing CO2 reductions, restricting the use of fossil fuels that provide 80 percent of our energy and forcing 'net zero."
Water vapor is the most impactful abundant greenhouse gas. It is 25 to 50 times more abundant than CO2 in the atmosphere and does the same thing as CO2. Water vapor is 1-2 percent and CO2 is 4/100s of 1 percent of the atmosphere.
Our recommendation to the CFTC is to stay within their statutory authority and provide clear standards for voluntary carbon trading markets. In order to prevent fake greenwashing by corporations seeking to appear "greener" than they are.
And we recommend resisting the forces that would have the CFTC exceed its statutory directive, by attempting to reduce CO2 emissions or force any sort of reduction in fossil fuels. That is not the mission or role of the CFTC.
