As a concerned citizen, taxpayer and retired individual living on a fixed income, it is increasingly difficult for me to make ends meet on a month to month basis. With the cost of fuel being one of my top three monthly expenses, it is easy to see why this issue is one of my major concerns as it is for the majority of Americans.
It is for this reason that I appeal to Mr. Gensler and the CFTC to take actions as necessary to see that the speculation on oil by traders and hedge fund managers with insufficient or no funds to back the trade is stopped immediately.
Oil, one of our most important commodities, should not be allowed to be easily manipulated by entities who's only intention is to make a fast profit and drive up our fuel prices.
As sad as it is, our country runs on oil and it is one of the main reasons our cost of living day to day increases.
Until a main alternative energy source is found to replace oil, it is imperative that all necessary means be taken to insure that fuel prices are not manipulated in any manner by speculators. The future of this country and future generations of Americans require that the CFTC take action without delay.
