Regulation of Retail Forex
Re: R1N 3038-AC61
Hello,
I understand there are proposals for once again increasing margin requirements for the retail forex
market.
Currently, I am a part-time forex trader. I work hard at my full-time job and, when I get home after
work, I like to trade the forex market. For the past year, I have been saving money to start trading live.
Just a few months ago I finally was able to save enough money to begin trading. These efforts were
delayed due to the passing of the recent legislation that increased margin requirements.
One day I ultimately hope to trade the forex market for a living. In today's current economical
conditions, it is very much possible that I (and numerous others, at any moment) could lose my full-time
iob. The forex market is the only hope many of us have of one day being financially secure. In addition,
I don't want to work 9-5 the rest of my life. It would be great to work for myself and not pay someone
else's bills for once. Raising margin requirements to the proposed levels would effectively crush this
dream. The forex market gives me hope and offers me at least a little bit reassurance that I may survive
financially in the long run and be able to provide for my family. Increasing margin requirements would
make it virtually inpossible for myself and others to trade at a level that could positively impact our
financial situation. I know nothing is guaranteed when it comes to trading the retail forex market, but it
at least gives the common person a glimmer of hope in today's bleak economy.
Please don't raise margin requirements. I'm sure this email will deleted quickly, maybe it will not even
be read, but if it is, you must please realize that the forex market is the only hope many of us have for
the future. Raising margin requirements would essentially destroy any positive outlook we have in
today's financial climate. I can't stress how important this issue is. Please, please, please. I beg of you.
Do not pass the proposed legislation.
Sincerest regards,
Travis Martin
