I am writing to beg you not to allow further exceptions to the regulation of banks. They have proven they cannot be trusted and that strict regulation is neede. My husband and I are small business owners who used to make $150,000 a year and are now struggling to live in the Atlanta area on $59,000 a year with one kid in high school and another in college. No one helps us out. We needed a public option on health care but didn't get it. Yet, we had to pay taxes to bail out bankers who deserved to have their businesses fail because they were negligent. And then they had the nerve to give themselves bonuses!! Bonuses!! I am furious! They ruined our business, won't give us loans for our busines... despite the fact that we have 15 years of being in business with excellent FICO scores (820) ... and now they don't want to be regulated. How dare they!!
They deserve to have the book thrown at them. I am tired of their attitude of entitlement. That is what got us in this mess. You will be complicit in the next downfall of this economy if you back down on regulationing them. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior... especially if there are no consequences for past bad behavior that benefits them financially.
