I believe that the speculation and trading of heating oil has a direct impact on families trying to heat their homes. These speculative buyers trade the commodity but have no intention of taking possession of the oil. This directly drives up the price of the oil to the homeowner and it must stop. This winter, it cost about $600 to $800 to fill my personal tank and I would venture to say that half of that cost was incurred due to speculation.
Please limit speculative trading to those that need to hedge for their business.
