To Whom It May Concern
My position as sales manager brings me daily in contact with individuals, organizations, municipalities , and school systems that are directly and adversely affected by the huge swings in petroleum prices casued by speculation .To watch those individuals and organizations struggle with prices that are inflated by uncontrolled speculation is painful. Real people are making decisions whether to heat , eat or treat because of specualtion.
School systems and municipalites are cutting basic programs to pay for fuel. This is wrong.
I over see the heating oil operations for C N Brown . I am responsible for the purchase of "contract gallons"
for the future delievry to our customers. To observe futures prices increase based soley on fear and speculation driven by individuals and organizations that ultimately never "touch" a gallon of petroleum is frustrating.
In my humble estimation the deck is stacked against consumers and the actual distributors of petroleum products. I don't pretend to have the solution I only know that the system is out of balance.
It is my sincere hope that clear minds see that allowing a very few to benefit to the detriment of millions of consumers is in the end economically a disaster in the making.
Respectfully
John
