Dear Sir or Madame,
I am not a participant in this field directly. But as a significant other and helper, I am a support system and sounding board.
What I have heard is there is a great fear of something being set up as a clearing system that would have a similar effect as MERS.
Additionally among certain groups it is well-known that members of multiple previous administrations have not handed in all their keys to the machines - so to say. Fear is that meddling will occur in any system, similar to the meddling of the SWIFT system. It is very dangerous to having people meddling in the financial systems when they have personal/political motives, rather than the best interest of the people as their motive.
Consider the trouble [an understatement] that MERS has caused. Always remember this can happen again.
