    Comment Text:

Any attempt to outlaw prediction markets is just another misguided attempt by an overreaching government to interfere in the lives of private individuals "for their own good." The CFTC risks destroying a valuable public good if they can't understand the difference between gambling on random events, and what goes on in a prediction market, which is more akin to investing in stocks or commodities. The benefits that come from these prediction markets far outweigh whatever small theoretical harm might come to their users. They have been repeatedly shown to be more accurate than traditional polling, and more likely to engage their users in-depth in the political process. It is a sad day indeed when a government agency seeks to strip us of another aspect of our financial freedom here in the United States of America, the so-called land of the free.
