The "economic purpose" test proposed for election contracts is arbitrary and fails to acknowledge their legitimate use in risk management. Numerous economists and businesses have identified clear hedging applications for these markets. I urge the Commission to reject this flawed proposal and recognize the real-world economic value of election contracts.
