The CFTC's proposal overlooks the potential for election markets to serve as early detection systems for unusual activity or potential election interference. Sudden shifts in these markets could alert authorities to investigate potential manipulation or fraud. By banning these markets, we lose a potential safeguard for electoral integrity. The Commission should explore how to leverage these markets for the public good.
