    Comment Text:

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the CFTC's proposal to ban event prediction markets, including those related to elections, which play a crucial role in informing evidence-based policy analysis and decision-making. As a policy analyst based in the midwest, I can utilize these prediction markets to anticipate shifts in regulatory environments and evaluate potential policy impacts on public welfare.

These markets provide valuable insights into political dynamics and legislative outcomes that traditional polling methods or “expert” opinions and predictions often fail to capture accurately. The proposed ban threatens to undermine the integrity of policy analysis and puts opportunities for evidence-based policymaking that reflects the diverse needs of our communities in a chokehold. Instead of prohibition, I ask the Commission to extend the comment period and engage in collaborative discussions with policy analysts and lawmakers to enhance transparency and support informed decision-making.
