Greetings CFTC,
In my line of work being an environmental policy advisor, I have observed the significant impact that political decisions can have on environmental policies and regulations. Election contracts, such as those offered by Kalshi, could provide a valuable tool for understanding and anticipating these impacts.
The data generated by these contracts would improve the overall usability and clarity of the market and provide much needed insights into potential policy changes and economic shifts that usually place policy advisors at their mercy. The proposed restrictions on election contracts overlook their utility and the significant benefits they provide. These contracts are not speculative tools; they are legal, regulated, and offer a structured means for risk management and price discovery. Extending the comment period would allow for a more informed and balanced regulatory approach toward these markets.
