    Dear CFTC,
I am a retiree with a previous professional background in financial planning—spending my career advising clients on how to safeguard their financial futures. Now, in my own retirement, I find myself relying heavily on the insights provided by election contracts to manage my investments and ensure a stable income. Election contracts offer a unique tool for predicting political outcomes that could significantly impact the economy and, by extension, my retirement portfolio. These contracts would allow me to hedge against potential risks such as changes in tax policy, healthcare legislation, and social security reforms—factors that are critical to my financial security.

The legal and regulated nature of these markets provides a level of safety and confidence that is unparalleled by other predictive tools. Restricting these contracts would not only diminish transparency in the marketplace but also remove an essential risk management tool for retirees like myself who need to navigate the uncertainties of political developments. Moreover, driving this activity offshore to unregulated markets could expose investors to greater risks and reduce the overall reliability of the information these contracts provide. The data and insights generated by these contracts are crucial for making informed decisions, and losing access to this resource would be detrimental to many individuals' financial stability.

I urge the CFTC to reconsider the proposed restrictions and to engage with stakeholders to better understand the significant benefits these contracts provide to investors. A collaborative approach that incorporates feedback from various market participants can lead to a more informed and balanced regulatory framework. Thank you for considering my perspective on this important issue.
    Sincerely,
    Sven
