Dear members of the CFTC,
I am a biomedical researcher and my work focuses on developing treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. Political decisions on healthcare funding and biomedical research policies have a profound impact on the progress and outcomes of our research efforts. Kalshi’s election contracts could provide invaluable predictive insights into how these policies might change with upcoming elections. The CFTC’s current stance against these markets limits our ability to plan for future funding opportunities and navigate regulatory uncertainties. Accurate predictions about election outcomes would allow us to align our research priorities with anticipated shifts in public health priorities and research funding allocations. This tool could also facilitate strategic collaborations and investments in cutting-edge technologies that advance medical breakthroughs. By advocating for the approval of these prediction markets, the CFTC would support the advancement of biomedical research and innovation, ultimately benefiting patients and healthcare systems worldwide.
