Owning an art gallery might seem worlds away from financial markets, but political decisions affect funding for the arts, tax policies, and the economy’s overall health, which in turn affects art sales. Kalshi’s election contracts provide a way to foresee and prepare for these changes. The CFTC's proposal to ban these contracts is baffling and harmful. It ignores the practical uses of these markets for small business owners like myself who need to navigate economic uncertainties. We deserve the right to manage our risks proactively. And, as much as it may surprise you, we are smart enough to handle the risks of trading on our own without the federal government saying we don't understand. That is offensive.
