As an American citizen, I am strongly opposed to the idea of greedy elitists being allowed to gamble on our elections to see who will win. Allowing such a proposal to go through will: undermine the integrity of our elections and our democracy, create strong financial incentives for special interests to manipulate and interfere in our elections, reduce voter confidence, lead to a perception that election outcomes are not solely determined by voters’ choices but also by those who bet on election results, put personal gain ahead of the public interest, and undermine the principle of one person, one vote – the bedrock of our democracy. Therefore, I urge you to place this country and its people ahead of any such special interests and reject any proposals that allow for monetary betting on any elections at any level.
