The past several decades has seen an astounding slide to monetize absolutely every aspect of American life. Now we're ready to infect our electoral process with legalized gambling. No longer are we motivated to improve our country by civic pride or a sense of duty, but now we must make a buck! "What's in it for me!?" we growl and grumble, for we are now all temporarily embarrassed multi-millionaires, rather than side-by-side citizens of the greatest country in the world (boy, we haven't been that in a while, have we?). Every time we inject personal gain, raw unfettered capitalism, into any sector of our lives, **somebody** gets rich, and the rest of us suffer unexpected, sometimes strange consequences. Now our election system is on the cusp of being infected by big-dollar fever. We elected a gameshow host in 2016. If election betting is permitted, the next cycle will just be a boxing match. Richest fatcat wins, regardless of who makes office-elect. How about we start drawing down from the literal billions flowing thru our elections and make our elections **good** again?
