This proposal is a terrible idea. Here are the reasons why:
Allowing this proposal will undermine the integrity of our elections and our democracy. The rule of democracy is 'one person, one vote.' We must uphold that!
Allowing betting on election outcomes will create strong financial incentives for special interests to manipulate and interfere in our elections. Another thing we don't need!
Allowing this proposal will reduce voter confidence, and lead to a perception that election outcomes are not solely determined by voters’ choices, but also by those who bet on election results. As I said above, we must beware of anything that subverts our democracy.
Allowing this proposal puts personal gain ahead of the public interest. Personal gain should never be a motive in any election!
Allowing this proposal undermines the principle of one person, one vote – the bedrock of our democracy.
I hope you pay attention to my comments and knock down this proposal.
