For a long time sports betting has been prohibited in the United States because, as has been seen around the world, when people bet on sports, there is an incentive to determine the outcome by bribing players and referees. This makes election betting dangerous in two ways: it will give incentive to bettors to influence the outcome, and, if not that, it will at least undermine, and people's minds, the security of elections. It will also add to the illusion that elections are some kind of game. And further, it will make our elections even more about money, where money surely should have no part in voting for our Representatives. I think our elections are already insecure enough, without adding this burden. I implore you to not allow this to happen.
