I am writing to urge you to reject attempts to allow wagering on political elections. Gambling is for the wealthy who can afford to lose and not for the amateurs who think it will make them rich.
In trading commodities and other instruments like derivatives, there are always winners and losers. In recent times, the winners are winning more and the losers are losing more. I don’t think exploiting fools is the way to run a country or an economy.
Inequality breeds unrest and is dangerous for society. Your commission was created to protect the people less able to evaluate risk and analyze options from being stripped of their earnings.
The lower and middle classes should not be an oyster to shuck by more gifted people who have continually invented new ways to shuck society.
Be the source of policy for safe, financially secure communities where a workers retirement is secure and protected in the spirit of the FDIC and PBGC.
