    Comment Text:

I am against allowing betting on the outcomes of political elections. If allowed even for a narrow scope, such as which party will control each chamber of the U.S. Congress, they will set precedent and eventually expand to the outcome of individual races. These contracts would be contrary to public interest as their presence might dissuade voters from voting for candidates that the contracts market deems unlikely to win. The contracts could also be used as means to indirectly influence candidates. Average Americans would not benefit from the presence of these contracts and they would be used as yet another vehicle to funnel more money into politics.
