As an individual, I would greatly appreciate the ability to hedge political events in a way that is both effective and intuitive. In my view, simple elections contracts (with straightforward "Yes" or "No" outcomes) would greatly benefit society by helping individuals secure themselves against adverse impacts and also by producing forecasts that (as many studies show) are more accurate than traditional election polling data.
