This proposed rule for the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission concerns its ability to collect information from companies in the industry. There are currently not many rules in place that address this issue. An Information Collection Request (IRA) will now be required to be forwarded to the Office of Management and Budget for review and comment. This is a good rule that hopefully will prove effective in correctly collecting information from players in the commodity industry. There are so many active variables and things going on in the huge industry. Having a regulator for approval will be a good thing.
