Honorable Chris Giancarlo - Chairman CFTC,
My father was one of the early researchers implementing a pan-European computer network connecting research centres for sharing of information. Even in the 1970s and 1980s it was very clear that this technology would potentially have a transformative effect on the world and society.
I was too young to fully appreciate the scale of the effect. However, I feel privileged to have the opportunity to watch something similar with the rise blockchain. In my opinion it is the next great "game changer".
So I watched yesterday's hearing with interest and was very pleasantly surprised. In my opinion the general tone is precisely what's needed at this point - let the experts develop the techonology as far as it can go and protect the general public from being burnt by it, thus increasting the speed, ease and ecceptance of the adoption of the blockchain technology.
I am sure you are aware of the fact that the European Government is also taking a keen notice of this technology and is currently adopting a similar approach. It could perhaps be beneficial to make contact with appropriate organisations in Europe and elsewhere in the world and mount a coordinated effort to promote and responsibly regulate the blockchain technology.
Sincerely,
Jan Kalin
